Party Animal!

Meet my new friend Reynaldo the Party Animal:-)
I used the CTMH Party Animal stamp set and the new Art Philosophy Cricut Catridge to make this super cute Halloween Party invite. I was inspired by the CTMH Autumn/Winter idea book where this stamp set was featured. Most of the effort was in cutting and also in coloring Reynaldo. Isn’t he cute?

My Other Passion

99% of my pages are done of my family. Very rarely do I scrap about just myself. I have thought about it but am usually just trying to stay “caught up” with family events, holidays, birthday’s etc.. I saw a layout similar to this in Creative Keepsakes and it inspired me to scrap a layout about my other passion….reading! I love to read, I love books and I love fellow readers!

On the page I wrote “I have been an avid reader for as long as I can remember. I fall in love with the characters in the books I choose to read. When the book ends I find myself missing the characters. I even find myself thinking fondly of them….even years later.”

One must have sunshine, freedom and a little flower–Hans Christian Andersen

Close to my Heart Cricut Art – my first try at making flowers with CTMH’s new cricut cartridge called Cricut Art. I decorated the top of a box with these flowers and embossed the words “one must have sunshine, freedom and a little flower” by Hans Christian Andersen.
My embossing needs some practice – but how ‘bout them flowers?? Smile I gave my little guy Jayson the box and he has already filled it with some of his little treasures ;).

More Autumn Fun

Autumn is my favorite season to scrap – probably cuz it’s the best season…ever! I love the colors, the holidays and the events that happen in the fall. As I work towards finishing up my 2010 pages I am really enjoying scrapping these pages. Tonight I worked on Halloween. The kids just love Halloween… with the costumes and candy, its definitely a kid favorite!

My Jack O’Lanterns page is my favorite of the evening. I handmade the title and had so much fun doing it. First, I cut the pumpkins with the Cricut using the “Stretch Your Imaginations” cartridge. Then using the watercolor brush and Seafoam stamp I colored the leaves and stem on the pumpkins. Once those dried I distressed the border of each pumpkin with black ink. Then using colors Pansy Purple and Orange I stamped the letters onto the pumpkins. So much fun and I love the way it turned out!!

My next layout was of Trick or Treat night and the neighborhood kids dressed up in their costumes! So Fun! This page was simply paper and stickers. I did stamp the year “2010” but other than that this was a quick and easy (and cute!!) page Smile

Bushels of Fun

This week we had a break from the heat and with Fall just around the corner it got me excited about my favorite season approaching! I wanted to share a layout I did on our trip to the Apple Orchard last fall. Its hard to believe a year has come and gone! Time sure does fly and the kiddos are growing so fast. That’s what I love about these pages…capturing the moments that come and go so quickly. Enjoy!

Trying my hand at Digital Scrapbooking

I said I would never do it. I said it just wasn’t the same. And yet I have downloaded my first Digital Scrapbooking software. Being new to the digital scrapbooking world I was overwhelmed as I saw all the software available. I did know that I wanted the experience to be similar to traditional scrapbooking. I wanted different “papers” and “embellishments” available to layer and basically the ability to customize and create. I found My Memories Suite and decided to go with it! It was relatively inexpensive and it offers endless papers and embellishments to download to the suite if so desired. For now I’ll just use what is available in the suite as I play Smile

Here is what my “playing” came up with last night.just playing around-001

SOme things I like about digital vs traditional scrapbooking is….

1. No mess

2. Redos are super easy

3. Saving as a jpeg is a breeze

4. I can do it anywhere!

Some things I don’t like about digital vs traditional scrapbooking is….

1. Where’s my scrappin girlfriends?

2. No cricut, no stamp pads, no stamps Sad smile

3. I’m new to it so it still feels clumsy

4. I have no idea how to print this thing??

Bottom line – a great alternative when life is busy Smile

A Friday Night Gathering

One of my favorite parts about scrapbooking is getting together with scrappin’ girlfriends and doing what we do best – scrap! I did just that this last Friday. We visited, munched on food, watched Breakfast Club and I was able to get a few 2010 layouts completed. It had been a long week at work and I was pretty tired by 10pm. So not a long night, but definitely a fun night!

“Family Fun” is a layout of our trip to Lake McBride last August. I love the picture in the top right hand corner of the right side layout. It’s the kids holding hands and walking into the water --- awww  -- love it! <3

I got a few snapshots of the kids before heading to the schools to register.

“Aldrich Teamwork” is a short story about how keeping our house clean requires the participation of everyone in the family! THe left side page has snapshots of our house when its messy. The right side page shows our lovely home when its sprakly clean! We all pitch in on most Saturday mornings and “get’r done” Smile

Making progress on 2010.

I am slowly making my way through 2010. The hardest part is finding time with my busy schedule to scrapbook. That’s why I love attending a monthly crop a good friend of mine hosts. Last week I attended one of these and had a great time with 10 other scrapbooking girlfriends! I also managed to get some layouts done Smile
