2009 Aldrich Christmas Card

Is complete :) I simply LOVE how it turned out. All day yesterday it was truly a work in progress. When I arrived at the crop I had a few small ideas floating around in my head. I had a stack of CTMH cardstock and a stack of pictures in front of me and a designed card from the night before that I wasn’t really digging. So….I started looking at Cricut cartridges to get my creative juices flowing….Fell in love with a slender xmas tree from the Christmas Cheer cartridge and that is what helped me with the layout of the card…..stuff 018

The spot where the present sits took me awhile to get to though. Before I got to that I cut out all my trees and punched out the pictures and started putting the trees together and cutting the 41/2 x 4/12 red squares and adding the 2x2 punched out pics to it. The time came where I needed to fill my lonely and empty red spot :) At first I was going to use the Cricut and cut a present or maybe a xmas saying. But I wasn’t feeling anything I cut.So then I was going to cut out tags and apply a stamped image to the tag so I started browing through my xmas stamps….no not quite or no not the right size. So then I started browsing through Lauras’s xmas stamps and came across that present…ooooo…..I really like that.  Immediately, I knew what I wanted to do! I wanted to stamp that pretty little present right on the empty square using CTMH white daisy ink. I just love the end result. I do have one remaining item…I’m not sure I like the sparkle for the xmas star so today I am going to Michaels to see what other ideas I can come up with for that. Then its sign and seal ;)

I’m starting to feel the holiday spirit!!! Today I want to make gift tags!

Designing my Christmas Card

Somehow I thought this would be really easy but it is proving very difficult. Started yesterday when I realized I had a day long crop coming up and what a perfect time to get the cards taken care of! First step – picture of the family. I really felt I needed the pic done Sunday but then my husband informed me he would be gone all afternoon. OK – scratch family pic – guess it will be the just the kids instead (that’s ok they are the cutest part of the picture anyway!)

This one is nice…

card 3 2009  Here is a cute one….

christmas 062 Look at the smile on my little guy…what a cutie McCutie ;)

Wasn’t loving any one picture of all of them together. Then I remembered a card I did a few years back where I cut out 4 2x2 pics and began pondering that as an option again.

At this point I am leaning towards a 4x6 card with 3 2x2 photo blocks across the middle. Then ribbon just below with a handmade embellishment to the side.

Red cardstock, red ribbon. White snow flake on the embellishment image and “Warm Wishes” greeting in white above the photo strip…..hmmmm. What to do? What to do?

I guess we will find out on Saturday!

Gratitude List

What I am grateful for:

Happy and Healthy children – I adore my kids and there isn't a thing I wouldn’t do for them. They are my joy, they are my drive. I love love love my children.

Happy and Healthy Hubby ;) It isn’t always easy but well worth the effort! I love my hubby so much because he makes me laugh and adores me just for me. I love the freedom in being able to just be me when I am with him.

A job. I like my job and am grateful to have it. I am grateful that I provide for my family and am proud how hard I work everyday ~

Friends and family. I am grateful to be surrounded by friends and family that love me and that I love, too.

I have so much to be grateful for and thank God every single night for blessing me in so many ways.

~  Sometimes I have to pinch myself! ;)

Happy Thanksgiving!

I had fun creating this greeting. I just cut out the letters with with my cricut then I used autumn sunflowers from close to my heart to surround the greeting. Fun!!

Sweet Daisy's

I had so much fun making this page. The best part about it is the simplicity in it. I simply took a blue piece of cardstock and applied the 8X10 photo of me and my girls. Then using the Walk in the Garden cricut cartridge I cut out daiseys in all different sizes. Then I distressed the petals and layered each size, holding them together with different colored brads. I applied the daiseys to flow in the corner. Then using the Home Decor I cut out the swirls in black and applied. I just love how it turned out!

Every Mom Needs This Weekend Away!

So this past weekend I went to Pj's and Pigtails in Stuart Ia. Pj's and Pigtails is a scrapbooking bed and breakfast and let me tell you it was wonderful! Just so so so much fun. We arrived at 5pm with a very warm welcome by Tammie and Mary (sisters - its a family business). We were served home cooked meals all weekend long including dinner by candlelight in our pjs on Saturday night. They kept our drinks filled and tended to anything we needed. The beds were sooo comfortable and with non stop scrapbooking all weekend long I managed to be productive too! It was so relaxing and fun that I'mm already looking to make my reservations for the spring! Who's in?

A Poem

Below is a wonderful poem Audrey Hepburn wrote when asked to share her 'beauty tips.' It was read at her funeral years later.

For attractive lips, speak words of kindness. For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people. For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry. For beautiful hair, let a child run his/her fingers through it once a day. For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone. People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed; never throw out anyone. Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you will find one at the end of each of your arms. As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands; one for helping yourself, and the other for helping others.

My cousin Kass - RIP

Team Kass!

What a special morning Sunday September 13th was. It was this morning that family and friends gathered and both celebrated and mounred the life of my dear cousin Kass. My Aunt Jolene was so appreciative and touched by everyone's support and love. At the same time it brought back many haunted memories of the day my precious and sweet cousin decided to take his own life. I plan to participate in the Out of Darkness walk that will occur yearly. I want to do this for many reasons - to honor Kass, to support my Aunt and to bring awareness to the symptoms and prevention of suicide. I hope that on that morning Kass was looking down on us and knows hoe much he is loved and missed. And I hope we did him proud :)
Meet Team Kass.....

So Very Loved

I was able to find some time to scrap this page today. It is long over due as I have been meaning to make scrap art for my desk at work for quite awhile now. So finally today I did it and here are the results - ta da! :) I used a variety of cricut cartridges (Jubilee,Alphalicious, Graphically Speaking and Jasmine) plus cardstock, patterned paper and stickers from CTMH. I think it turned out bright and fun!

Kids started school

Lindy is a high schooler now! And Skylar will have her last year of elementary this year. Both have special years in 2009-2010. My little guy Jayson will move up to his "preschool" class although he seems awfully little to be in preschool already. My babies are growing up! But I am very much looking forward to autumn - my favorite season! I love wearing sweatshirts, football season and warm colors of fall. Halloween brings the fun of little ghosts and scary little monsters :) And it leads us in to the best time of the year ever - Thanksgiving and Christmas!! Good times and lovely memories!
